The ensemble required 3,459 hours of craftsmanship and the coordinated work of 90 artisans, underscoring the scale of its artisanal execution. Designed around the theme “Costume Art,” the outfit drew inspiration from the ancient Machilipatnam style of Kalamkari, presenting a reinterpretation that merged 3,000 years of cultural tradition with contemporary couture sensibilities.
The central narrative of the attire revolved around the symbolic “Tree of Life,” rendered through natural dyes and intricate hand-painted detailing. The garment integrated traditional Indian zardozi, marodi, and resham embroidery techniques, combined with modern couture construction to create a layered visual and cultural statement.
The design further incorporated motifs reflecting the cultural identity of Telangana, including the Palapitta bird and the Jammi Chettu tree, alongside celestial references to the Sun and Moon deities. The silhouette featured a royal blue corseted bodice and an expansive seven-meter trail embellished with peacock motifs. Enhancing the sculptural dimension of the ensemble, handcrafted metallic elements in brass, copper, and silver formed vine-like structures rising along the back, converging at a representation of the Kalpavriksha, the mythological wish-fulfilling tree.
Sudha Reddy’s appearance was further defined by a high-value jewelry ensemble estimated at 15 million dollars. The monochromatic sapphire collection included the “Queen of Merelani,” a 550-carat deep violet-blue tanzanite, accompanied by 23-carat yellow diamonds. She also carried a theatrical Dolce & Gabbana minaudière. Her styling was completed with a sleek low ponytail and a soft smoky cat-eye makeup look, designed to emphasize the craftsmanship of the attire.
